History
Bourne has a remarkable place in history. The Romans built a road through Bourne leading to Sleaford and the Car Dyke, one of the greatest construction feats carried out in Britain by the engineers of the mighty Roman Empire. Its purpose was to carry food and supplies for its advancing armies.

In more recent times, brick making, watercress production and support to surrounding agricultural businesses have been the main industries. Today, Bourne offers a wide range of employment opportunities in a diverse economy.
