In an exclusive guest article for the property website Eastern New Home Buyer Karl Hick, chief executive of housebuilder and developer Larkfleet Homes, explains why the construction industry needs to invest in training.

Karl writes: “Continuous investment in training is essential for the future of this industry.

“Construction and home building, in particular, are becoming high-tech operations driven by innovations which deliver energy-efficient solutions and cost-effective maintenance.

“The industry will increasingly require more of the brightest and best young people in all trades and professions.”

Larkfleet is a major sponsor of Greater Peterborough UTC (GPUTC) - an exciting new University Technical College in the heart of Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.

The college offers a very ‘hands on’ approach for students who are aiming to get into the construction and engineering industry and Larkfleet is offering the college a wealth of expertise and industry knowledge along with practical work placements.

Karl added in his article: “The GPUTC will provide local students with a solid foundation of hands-on experience together with educational learning and skills development to increase their job and career potential.
