Oakham is the county town of Rutland in the East Midlands. A traditional market town, it has a bustling and active community. For those interested in history, there are many beautiful and notable sites to explore including All Saints’ Church and Oakham Castle.
England’s largest man-made lake, Rutland Water, is just to the east of Oakham. Visitors can enjoy sailing and other water sports as well as fishing, walking and cycling around the reservoir. It also has stunning nature and wildfowl reserves.
There are excellent road links to the nearby towns of Corby, Grantham, Melton Mowbray and Stamford. Leicester, Birmingham, Peterborough, Cambridge and Stanstead Airport are all easily accessible by train from Oakham railway station.
