Modern slavery statement

The Larkfleet Group Modern Slavery Transparency Statement 2019

This statement is made in accordance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015. It explains our approach to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking from occurring in our business and our supply chains.

Our business and supply chain

The Larkfleet Group of Companies is an award-winning housebuilding and development company based in Bourne, Lincolnshire.

We engage a multitude of contractors and subcontractors and take the issue of modern slavery and human trafficking very seriously.

Our position

The Larkfleet Group of Companies is committed to the principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and the abolition of modern slavery and human trafficking. As an equal-opportunities employer, we are also committed to creating and ensuring a non-discriminatory and respectful working environment for our staff.

What we do

We have procedures in place to prevent slavery and human trafficking and we require our suppliers to take positive steps to ensure slavery and human trafficking is not present in their supply chains. Our suppliers, employees and contractors have been informed of our position and their duty to report any instances which they encounter.

Risk assessment and due diligence

In 2018 we continued to assess our operations and supply chain. We informed our suppliers of their need to report any instances of modern slavery and human trafficking and informed them of the law, our position and actions they must take. We have identified that the highest risk to our business and supply chain were where there were migrant and low-skilled labour. Working with primarily subcontractors it was of importance that we also educated our supply chain.

The past 12 months

Over the past 12 months, we have:

  • Continued to make our staff aware of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and inform them of the appropriate action to take if they suspect a case of slavery or human trafficking;
  • Updated our company polices, including modern slavery;
  • Encouraged all of our supply chain to confirm that they are taking positive steps to eliminate human trafficking and modern slavery;
  • Ensured ongoing engagement and communication between equality and diversity leads, our procurement team and the wider organisation.

Targets for 2019/20

During 2019-20, we will undertake the following activities:

  • Continue to develop a staff awareness strategy for the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and reporting mechanisms if a case of slavery or human trafficking is suspected.
  • Embed the Modern Slavery Act 2015 into our Whistleblowing Policy and processes.
  • Continue to monitor our supply chain and ensure that any new suppliers are aware of their obligations;
  • Undertake due diligence to ensure compliance with the Act;
  • Develop our approach to tackling the issue of Modern Slavery.
